Scrappy Stars Quilt Along

This is my first post.  I certainly don't know all the "ins and outs" of blogging, but a girl gotta start somewhere.  For years now, I have been following quilting and sewing related blogs and thought it was high time that I start my own.   I hope this will be a great way to meet and interact with other fellow quilters.

I have decided to join Terry's Treasures and join in the Scrappy Stars Quilt Along.  I am going to be using scraps with Kona Snow for the background.  I thought I had a tone-on-tone off white fabric I could use for the background but I cannot find it.   These are some of my scraps.

I have never organized my scraps. So it is very difficult and time consuming to get started. I really need to be more organized in my sewing room. I have several bags of scraps from years of quilting.  It is nice to pull them out and remember which quilt I had used them in.   I am super excited to finally be using these scraps.  Hopefully, I will get two blocks done this weekend.

Cheers Everyone and Happy Friday!!

Cathy

  1. Don't stress about your scraps being unorganized! Just start cutting pieces for the nine patches and star points as you sort your fabric. It will be much easier than sorting it all first, at least I think so! Have fun! :0)

  2. Thanks Terri. That's good advise. It would have taken forever to sort. I have two nine patches made, I'll finish the rest over the weekend.

  4. I just began quilting a couple months ago since I had 2 new grand babies coming. Discovering all the sites and blogs recently has been amazing. Looking forward to following a fellow Nova Scotian!

    1. There are so many great quilting blogs out there. Many quilters give so freely of there time and talant with tutorials, giveaways, quiltalongs and projects. I'm not sure where you live in NS, but the staff at Atlantic Fabrics in Dartmouth are great and they have great classes. I love Avonport Discount Fabrics in the valley too. Maybe I will meet you somewhere along your quilting journey!

    1. Hi Elizabeth,

I think the schedule is supposed to out sometime this week. I like going to the Friday night "Bring your own Project". As I always have old projects that need finishing. The prices at Avonport Discount Fabrics are good and there is a great selection of notions as well. I go to Knit and Stitch in New Minas for my machine repairs and always plan time to go to Avonport Discount Fabrics. Sometimes, they open on Sundays for extra discounts. When the store have these discounts it is posted on their website.
