December Already

Where did the fall go?  I cannot believe that Christmas is just around the corner.  How are you all doing with your Christmas preparations?  I have most of my shopping done, but not all.  I was trying to get a couple of quilts done by Christmas, although they are not Christmas quilts or gifts.   For me, it is always best to have deadlines or I never seem to complete projects.

I have a couple of pieced quilt tops to show you.   The one above is from the spring Quilt Camp held at Atlantic Fabrics in May 2012.   It is called Strips and Splits.  I love black and white quilts.

The Carpenter's Wheel quilt is from the Fall Quilt camp held just a couple of weeks ago.    I love the geometric patterns in this.  It is entirely pieced from half square triangles.

I started this next one more than a year ago, but showhow I lost interest.   I love nine patch quilts and this pattern is no exception.   I am determined to finish the top before Christmas. It is from a Moda Bake Shop pattern.  The pattern can be found here: http://www.modabakeshop.com/2009/10/sweet-menagerie-nine-patch-quilt.html

I am using a Moda Jelly Roll, Hemming House by Brannock and Petek.  These pictures are poor quality so it is hard to see the rich, beautiful colors.  The background is an ivory with a muted pattern.  You cannot see this in the picture.    I will take better pictures when I get this top finished.  Now to get all these quilted and given to their receipents!!!  I have always loved nine- patch quits and I do hope this one turns out as nice.

I have also finished a few table runners and a new bag/purse.  Will show these sometime during the weekend when I have light to take better pictures.    It is dark when I leave for work and dark when I return.

I also got my Summertime Stars quilt back from my favorite quilter!  I will share this with you next time when I can get better pictures.

August Scrappy Star Blocks

August blocks for Scrappy Stars.  These were a lot of fun to make.   Mine look they are not straight, but they are, it is just my poor photography skills and I also would bet that it is not hanging on my design wall straight either. Anyway, if you want to find the pattern hop on over to Terry's Treasures.  It is a great way to use up scraps.   I'm not sure how many of these I will make, but I am invisioning a large quilt which means I am likely to make more than two of these cuties a month.  I guess we will see.

Hope everybody is having a fabulous week.

Scrappy Stars Quilt Along

This is my first post.  I certainly don't know all the "ins and outs" of blogging, but a girl gotta start somewhere.  For years now, I have been following quilting and sewing related blogs and thought it was high time that I start my own.   I hope this will be a great way to meet and interact with other fellow quilters.

I have decided to join Terry's Treasures and join in the Scrappy Stars Quilt Along.  I am going to be using scraps with Kona Snow for the background.  I thought I had a tone-on-tone off white fabric I could use for the background but I cannot find it.   These are some of my scraps.

I have never organized my scraps. So it is very difficult and time consuming to get started. I really need to be more organized in my sewing room. I have several bags of scraps from years of quilting.  It is nice to pull them out and remember which quilt I had used them in.   I am super excited to finally be using these scraps.  Hopefully, I will get two blocks done this weekend.

Cheers Everyone and Happy Friday!!
